Workshops for school kids and home schoolers
Since 2023, more than 150 young photographers have taken part in our fun, creative, and mindful photography workshops.
We’re a registered NZ charity run by passionate volunteers, offering nature-based sessions for kids and teens aged 8–18. Our workshops are inclusive of all abilities, including young people with ADHD, autism, and other learning differences. We focus on supporting creativity, improving focus, and encouraging positive communication.
Through our workshops, kids can:
🌿 Connect with nature in a meaningful way through photography
🧠 Strengthen their mental wellbeing and mindfulness
📷 Learn the art of photography and self-expression
🏞️ Discover and develop a love for local parks and nature reserves

How does it work?
If your school or group is interested in running photography workshops, email us at hello@artofseeing.academy. We'll chat with you to find the best setup for your students.
We work with kids of all abilities, including those with ADHD, on the autism spectrum, and with learning differences such as dyslexia. Each session is tailored to be inclusive, engaging, and supportive.
What photography gives kids?
- Support self-expression - For some kids, photography becomes a powerful way to express themselves when words don’t come easily. It offers a safe, creative outlet to communicate and connect.
- Boost creativity - Photography encourages kids to slow down, observe, and see the world differently. It builds their visual awareness and imagination - skills they carry beyond the camera.
- Grow confidence - Using professional cameras (which we provide), kids get to bring their ideas to life. Every small success behind the lens builds their confidence and sense of achievement.
Don’t miss out!
Spaces are limited as we can only work with a few schools and groups each term. We’re looking for Aotearoa’s most curious and creative young photographers!
